Open a Bank Account in Georgia as a Non-Resident
Last updated: October 2026
Non-residents can open a personal or business account at a Georgian bank, in person or remotely through a representative with a power of attorney. Most refusals come from incomplete KYC answers, so we prepare those with you before the bank sees them.
Which account you need
- Personal account: for living in Georgia and receiving a salary
- Individual Entrepreneur account: to receive client payments and pay the 1% tax
- Company (LLC) account: for an LLC; the director or a representative applies
Accounts are multi-currency, usually GEL, USD and EUR, with online banking and cards. We work with Georgia’s leading banks.
What the bank asks for
- Passport (for remote opening: a notarised, apostilled copy, translated into Georgian)
- For a business account: the IE or LLC registration extract
- A completed KYC questionnaire: source of income, source of wealth, expected monthly turnover, main clients and countries
- Sometimes: proof of income, such as a contract or recent bank statements
- For US citizens: an IRS form (W-9)
How it works
- Call. We choose the bank that fits your profile and nationality.
- KYC preparation. We prepare the questionnaire with you so the answers are complete and consistent.
- Power of attorney (remote option): signed at a notary in your country and apostilled. A paper original is needed; digital powers of attorney are not accepted.
- Bank visit. Our representative submits the application and later collects the contract and online-banking access.
- Handover. You get account details and online access.
Remote opening typically takes 2–4 weeks, mostly for notarisation, apostille and courier. In person it is usually done within one or two days.
Price
Price on request; it depends on the account type and on in-person or remote opening.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open an account without coming to Georgia?
Yes, through a representative with a paper power of attorney.
Can the bank refuse me?
Yes. Banks decide case by case, and some nationalities face extra checks. We tell you on the call how likely approval is.
Do I need a Georgian account for the 1% tax?
It is not legally required, but it makes receiving income and paying tax simpler.
Can I get a card sent abroad?
This depends on the bank; we check it for your case.
